About Madisonville and Hopkins County
Located near the intersection of the Western Kentucky and Pennyrile parkways, Madisonville is one of jewels of west-central Kentucky.

With so much concern spent on the economic fortunes of the crowded I-65 corridor from Louisville to Nashville, the economic growth of west central Kentucky often takes many people by surprise. The Pennyrile Parkway runs through three prosperous Kentucky communities – the elegant Ohio river town of Henderson along the northern border, Hopkinsville in Christian County, which is aided in no small part by the presence of Fort Campbell. And this is not to mention the relatively close proximity of Evansville, Indiana and Nashville.

Between all those towns and communities lies the city of Madisonville.

The Pennyrile, which runs just outside downtown Madisonville, features the commercial chains that are common to most interstate developments. But with that kind of growth rising along the outskirts of the city, Madisonville’s center has been free to maintain its distinctive historic character and, as a bonus, displays the polish of a vibrant and thriving business district that has kept pace with the times and has much which appeals to young couples and families.

One of the area’s economic centerpieces is Baptist Health Madisonville. Formerly known as the Trover Health System, the Madisonville medical campus has a long and respected history as a major regional health care provider. It positioned itself for future growth by merging with Baptist Health, one of Kentucky’s leading health care systems. Baptist Health also manages the family medicine residency program on the campus.

The town’s historic center is not only accented by well-preserved buildings dating back to the turn of the last century, but most of the store fronts are occupied and its downtown has acquired a reputation for upscale dining and shopping.

The area is also within easy distance of the larger cities of Evansville, Indiana; Nashville, Tennessee; Paducah and Owensboro, Kentucky. For outdoor activities, nothing in Kentucky compares to the Land Between the Lakes national recreation area just an hour from Madisonville.

Choices of residential lifestyles are as varied as the area. In addition to its two larger towns, Madisonville and Dawson Springs, Hopkins County also has a distinctive pastoral identity, particularly among its new housing developments.

There are several parks, country clubs, and other outdoor venues catering to a wide range of activities. One of the community’s proudest features is the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts, a 1,036 seat auditorium that hosts numerous local and national performing artists and touring companies.

Hopkins County also boasts an excellent county school system and an independent school system in Dawson Springs.

Hopkins County is one of the areas that make western Kentucky living unique and attractive. For health care providers, there is plenty of room for growth and a lifestyle that blends the most attractive aspects of suburban life with small town comfort, security, and a reasonable cost of living.
