Job Description:  The UK College of Medicine Department of Neurology and the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute (KNI) are seeking a full time stroke/vascular neurologist to join its growing stroke and vascular neurology division.  The position may be tailored to match the interests and skills of the candidate, but will generally include:

  • Pursuing your passion as related to our clinical, research, and educational missions
  • Evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of adults with stroke or vascular disorders.
  • Attending on the inpatient PCU or ICU stroke service
  • Providing ambulatory care for children with epilepsy
  • Providing inpatient stroke consultation
  • Education of residents, medical students, and fellows.
  • Pursuit of external funding to support clinical services and research programs.
  • Representing the department of neurology on committees as requested by the chair
  • Attending Department faculty meetings and other scholarly events and conferences.

Program Description:   The Joint Commission certified inpatient stroke unit at Chandler Medical Center and the Cerebrovascular Disorders Clinic are central to the Kentucky Neurosciences Institute at the University of Kentucky.  Stroke and vascular neurology, a division within the UK College of Medicine Department of Neurology, is comprised of nine clinical neurologists, an intensivist, three inpatient advanced practice providers (APPs), and two outpatient APPs and has received the “Get with the Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award” from the AHA/ASA for its treatment of stroke patients.  Our stroke service provides leading-edge treatments for ischemic stroke, including intravenous thrombolysis, intra-arterial thrombolysis, and the endovascular Merci® Retrieval System. 

As an academic center, teaching and research are an integral part of the UK HealthCare child neurology program, and all faculty are provided opportunities to participate in academic activities in the division.
