Biography
Meriem Bensalem-Owen, MD, FACNS, FANA, FAES, is a Professor of Neurology and Director of the Epilepsy Program at the University of Kentucky which is a Level 4 NAEC center. She is also the director of the only ACGME accredited Epilepsy Fellowship training program in the state of Kentucky. She is the current President of the Epilepsy Foundation of Kentuckiana (EFKY). She serves on the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) Council. She was recently elected as ACNS’ Second Vice President. She is the chair of the Accreditation Committee of the NAEC.
Dr. Bensalem-Owen specializes in the care of adults with complex epilepsy. She is passionate about improving the quality of life of people living with epilepsy. She has a special interest in teaching and mentoring trainees, in quality improvement projects, planning for epilepsy surgery in potential candidates as well as caring for women with epilepsy during their reproductive years.
