College of Medicine Faculty Named 'Emerging Leaders' by AAHPM

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine is proud to share that two of our faculty members, Lindsay Ragsdale, MD, and Jessica McFarlin, MD, have been named Emerging Leaders in Hospice and Palliative Medicine by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM). Dr. Ragsdale and Dr. McFarlin were among 40 health care professionals selected out of more than 120 nominations for the honor, which recognizes career accomplishments, involvement with the AAHPM, student and resident mentoring, and charitable work. Dr. Ragsdale is director of the Pediatric Advanced Care Team and division chief of pediatric palliative care. She educates future physicians as associate professor of pediatrics with the College of Medicine. Dr. McFarlin is also a division chief of palliative care, with specialties in critical care neurology and palliative care. She is an associate professor of neurology in the College of Medicine. Both Dr. Ragsdale and Dr. McFarlin are College of Medicine alumnae. AAHPM’s Emerging Leaders program commemorates the exemplary work accomplished by those specializing in hospice and palliative medicine. Its first class of Emerging Leaders was named in 2014, with the next class – which includes Dr. Ragsdale and Dr. McFarlin – following in 2019. These experts will be honored at the AAHPM’s Annual Assembly March 18-21, 2020, in San Diego. They also will be featured in an upcoming article in “AAHPM Quarterly.”
