Program Description:  Located in the heart of Lexington, the University of Kentucky has grown exponentially in the last 10 years. Child neurology, currently a division within the UK College of Medicine Department of Neurology, is comprised of seven child neurologists and two advanced practice providers providing inpatient neurological care at the Kentucky Children’s Hospital (KCH), ambulatory care at KNI’s outpatient pediatric neurology clinic, and care for children with chronic neurological conditions at 13 satellite locations throughout the Commonwealth in partnership with the Office for Children with Special Health Care Needs (OCSHCN). The division is poised for growth in both its clinical and academic programs, seeking to hire multiple faculty and to expand the complement for its ACGME-accredited child neurology residence program.

In addition to providing secondary care for pediatric practices across the Commonwealth, the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute’s Child Neurology Clinic provides tertiary subspecialty care for a growing number of conditions including epilepsy, brain tumors, headaches, movement disorders, neurodevelopmental, and genetic conditions. Child epilepsy facilities include a 3-bed EMU, a fully staffed neurophysiology lab for routine outpatient EEGs, and 9 ambulatory EEG units.

As an academic center, teaching and research are an integral part of the UK HealthCare child neurology program, and all faculty are provided opportunities to participate in academic activities in the division.
