Biography

Dr. Smith received her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Connecticut, and her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, where she was a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.  She completed residency training in otolaryngology at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.  This was followed by a pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago.

As a pediatric otolaryngologist, Dr. Smith focuses on treating basic and advanced disorders of the ear, nose, and throat in children. She is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.  

She has a wide range of clinical interests including airway disorders, dysphagia, tracheostomy care, congenital neck masses, benign and malignant head and neck tumors, complex sleep related breathing disorders, sinonasal disorders and anterior skull base surgery. She believes in a patient-centered approach and uses shared decision making to involve the family and patient when determining a plan of care to achieve the best possible outcome.  She is also passionate about multidisciplinary, collaborative care and frequently works with physicians in other pediatric specialties. Dr. Smith has published multiple original, peer-reviewed research articles and presented at national conferences on topics related to advancing ear, nose & throat care for children.
