Application Process

The Department of Otolaryngology – HNS at the University of Kentucky invites you to experience a dynamic and welcoming rotation in Lexington, KY. During your visit, you’ll tour the Albert B. Chandler Hospital, including the main operating rooms, Center for Advanced Surgery, ENT Clinic, and Markey Cancer Center.

Our away rotation offers a comprehensive, hands-on experience across all major subspecialties:

  • Head & Neck
  • Laryngology
  • Rhinology
  • Pediatrics
  • Facial Plastics
  • Otology

Students gain meaningful exposure in both surgical and clinical settings, working alongside faculty and residents in a supportive learning environment.

Application Process

For information regarding the application process, please contact the National Residency Matching Program. We do not have a firm application deadline, though applications received after Oct. 1, 2025 will have less likelihood of an interview offer due to the timing of when otolaryngology residency programs can start application review.

Applicants to the UK College of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology--Head and Neck Surgery residency program should have:

-Taken and passed USMLE Step I
-Taken and passed USMLE Step II, with a numeric score reported


There are four five-year, categorical Otolaryngology - HNS positions open for the 2026 - 2027 academic year. Residency interviews will be December 4, 2026,  December 5, 2026, January 11, 2027, and January 12, 2027. Interviews will be conducted in person.
