Dr. Comer is a fellowship-trained rhinology and anterior skull base surgeon, meaning that he is trained to take care of basic and advanced disorders of the nose, sinuses, and anterior skull base. His clinic performs allergy assessment and testing. He performs in-office procedures such as steroid-eluting stent placement, and is trained in both traditional sinus surgery and balloon dilation of the sinuses. In addition, he is trained in endoscopic skull base surgery to address issues such as cerebrospinal fluid leaks, tumors, polyps, and other conditions. Dr. Comer also is the Otolaryngology Residency Program Director for UK Otolaryngology. He is deeply committed to resident education and helping residents and medical students reach their fullest potential both professionally and personally. He started the CORONA initiative in otolaryngology resident education during the COVID-19 pandemic, a collaboration of nearly 50 otolaryngology institutions and thousands of learners. CORONA is internationally known and has resulted in over 106,000 recorded video views to date. Dr. Comer has published in all of the major otolaryngology journals, he has written book chapters, and he enjoys research on clinical outcomes.
