Any new mother will tell you that breastfeeding, under the very best circumstances, is emotionally and physically taxing. While increasingly common in the workplace, accommodations such as private lactation rooms, permissive scheduling and clean, dedicated refrigerators for milk storage, are still the exception rather than the norm.

Our global health initiative in Kenya is an important aspect of UK Otolaryngology’s continued mission for quality otolaryngological care for all. Our chair, Matthew Bush, MD,  has been going to Kenya for years to offer care and mentorship, and this year was accompanied by Mark Fritz, MD, and UK ENT residents William Ruffin, DO and Nicholas Van Maele, MD.
