The University of Kentucky Cochlear Implant program has raised awareness of hearing loss by connecting with a non-profit organization called Songs for Sound.

The most recent event was held at the Manchester Music Hall November 6, 2016. This Nashville-based organization is directed by a mother of a young cochlear implant recipient and is passionate about hearing loss research and expanding access to hearing healthcare. The collaboration between the University of Kentucky and Songs for Sound has led to community hearing screenings along with fundraising concerts involving some of Nashville's top singer-songwriters. These events bring together cochlear implant recipients and their families, UK faculty and staff, and community partners to promote awareness of hearing loss and to celebrate patients in their journey to hear again.
