We are overjoyed to announce the first official day of Matthew Bush, MD, PhD, MBA, as the new chair of otolaryngology.
Dr. Bush has a vision and passion for caring for the people and communities of Kentucky and the Commonwealth. He has been taught and led well by extraordinary leaders here at UK and beyond and hopes to bring his wealth of knowledge, expertise, experience, and a bit of style to the next generations of students, staff, residents, faculty, patients, and more.
He holds the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Endowed Chair in Rural Health Policy. He earned his medical degree from Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, W. Va. He completed otolaryngology residency at the University of Kentucky in 2008. He completed a post-doctoral research fellowship and his otology, neurotology, and cranial base surgery fellowship at The Ohio State University. He also completed a PhD in Clinical and Translational Science in 2017 and an MBA in 2020, both from the University of Kentucky. His research is focused on hearing health care disparities. He serves as the PI of several NIH-funded community-based trials to promote hearing healthcare access and utilization among underserved populations.
To bring the best to Kenetucky, we have to be the best for Kentucky and with his leadership, he intends to do just that.
We are excited and hopeful for this next era. Congratulations on this inaugural day and for all that is to come!
