Stewart Lab Personnel
Andrew Stewart

Andrew N. Stewart, PhD, is an assistant professor who received his BS in Kinesiology from the University of Michigan (2012), MS (2016) and PhD (2018) from Central Michigan University, and performed post-doctoral training at the Spinal-Cord and Brain Injury Research Center at the University of Kentucky (2023). Andrew’s graduate work under Dr. Gary Dunbar and Julien Rossignol focused on genetic engineering of mesenchymal and neural stem cells for use in rat models of spinal cord injury. During post-doc with Dr. John Gensel, Andrew first evaluated mechanisms of aging and sex as biological variables that affect SCI pathology, then advanced towards the use of gene therapies to treat chronic SCI.
Katelin Slone

Katelin Slone received her BS from Berea College. She has been working in the C.N.S.-Lab since its start and is the main surgeon and behavioral expert of the lab.

Acknowledgements
We could not have been successful without Kennedy A. Park, a former undergraduate volunteer who is now in medical school to earn an MD.
Kennedy A. Park

Kennedy Park of Louisville, KY graduated from UK in May of 2024 with a neuroscience degree. Kennedy worked with Dr. Stewart, first in in Dr. Gensel’s lab, before transitioning with him as he started his own lab. She worked with Dr. Stewart on a novel cre-inducible gene-therapy approach for chronic spinal cord injury, among other projects.
