UK HealthCare Gill Heart and Vascular Institute’s annual Thomas F. Whayne Cardiovascular Symposium will be held on Friday, May 12 at the Campbell House in Lexington.
This year’s symposium, titled “Focus on Heart Failure,” will provide an up-to-date review of emerging trends in the management of patients with heart failure. Attendees will learn the latest advances in medical therapy as well as new indications for device therapy in heart failure. Other lectures will focus on related topics, such as cardiac amyloidosis, adult congenital heart disease, left ventricular assist devices and cardiac transplantation. A special keynote lecture will be given by Robert Kormos, MD, of Abbott Laboratories, who, during his long career at the University of Pittsburgh, was a leading pioneer of mechanical circulatory support.
