Within the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, the majority of faculty-related policies and practices are appropriately developed, implemented, and managed at the unit level, including departments, centers, and educational units. This decentralized approach allows for flexibility and responsiveness to the distinct missions and operational needs of individual units.

However, there are circumstances in which policies relating to faculty are applied inconsistently across units or raise concerns related to clarity, institutional alignment, or risk. In these situations, central guidance is necessary to promote consistency, fairness, and compliance across the college. 

These policies specifically do not cover students, residents, fellows, or staff.
