Chairs' Academy I (fall)

Application Period: May - July
The mission of the Chairs' Academy I is to encourage faculty to consider leadership career paths, and to provide guidance for new and prospective chairs and academic directors in developing the skills that are requisite for effective institutional leadership. The semester-long academy features seven workshop sessions and includes 20-25 participants. Topics include Faculty Leadership (panel of experienced chairs), Dealing with Stressed and Distressing Students, Mentoring Early-Career Faculty, Center for Learning & Teaching, and HR policies regarding Supervision of Staff, Managing Conflict and Difficult People, and Financial Matters.
Chairs' Academy II (spring)

This Academy is a follow-on to Chairs' Academy I. The first pilot tested in Spring 2018, Chairs' Academy II evolves to reflect input from previous offerings, but the next Academy will include six sessions: Developing a Vision for Your Department/School, Diversity and Inclusion - Recruitment and Retention, How to Maintain your Research as a Department Chair, Working with your Dean and Becoming a Spokesperson and Advocate for your Faculty, Work/Life Management Workshop, and Better Managing Faculty Performance.
SEC Faculty Travel Program

The SEC Faculty Travel Program was established in 2012 and aims to foster relationships that stimulate collaboration between SEC member universities relative to exchanging ideas, developing grant proposals, presenting lectures, conducting research and delivering performances.

In 2007, a group of women came together with a common vision – to build a better UK and Commonwealth. Each year membership contributions are pooled to support the University, its students, research and programs by awarding funds through grants. Since that time, we have awarded $2,878,011.50 through this process.
William R. Willard Dean's Recognition Award
College of Medicine, Dean's Office
Nomination Period: May - June
This yearly award is given to a faculty member who has made outstanding contributions to the University of Kentucky College of Medicine’s missions of education, service, and/or research. The award will be given in October on Academic Convocation and Awards Day.
SEC Academic Leadership Development Program
Southeastern Conference
Application Period: May - June
The SEC Academic Leadership Development Program seeks to identify, prepare and advance academic leaders for roles within SEC institutions and beyond. It has three components, a university-level development program designed by each institution for its own participants (i.e., fellows); two SEC-wide three-day workshops held on specified campuses for all program participants; and a competitive fellowship designed to provide administrative growth opportunities for former fellows.
University of Kentucky Emerging Leaders Academy (ELA)

ELA's purpose is to encourage mid-career faculty and professional staff to consider leadership career paths and to guide them in developing the essential skills for effective institutional leadership.
Applicants should demonstrate academic leadership potential and have an interest in pursuing academic leadership roles. Participants will learn more about themselves as emerging leaders while attaining skills that lead to successful personal and professional outcomes.
Women's Executive Leadership Development Program (WELD)
The WELD Program seeks to develop a new generation of leaders in higher education who can successfully contribute to the future of the university. Our eight-month-long curriculum consists of 2 two-day retreats and monthly meetings covering topics that include leadership attributes, budgeting, strategic planning, legal issues and regulations, and crisis management. In addition, participants will work on mentored, team-based projects focused on areas of improvement at the University of Kentucky.
