Biography

Dr. Windon earned her medical degree at the University of Connecticut and completed an Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery residency at Johns Hopkins University. She also completed a Head and Neck Cancer and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at the University of Michigan. During her medical and surgical training, she won multiple awards and honors, and volunteered with underserved populations on several occasions. She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on a wide breadth of topics within head and neck cancer.

Dr. Windon’s research interests include public health and the epidemiology of head and neck cancers, particularly those linked to HPV. As a head and neck oncologic and microvascular reconstructive surgeon, she treats patients with neoplasms of the head and neck including the skin, salivary glands, neck, carotid body, thyroid, mouth, gingiva, mandible, throat, sinus, and ear. She is also specially trained in transoral robotic surgery (TORS), and in microvascular reconstructive surgery for the surgical management of complex defects and wounds as the results of cancer, cancer treatment, and/or trauma.

Dr. Windon performs surgeries including thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, transoral robotic and laser surgery, partial laryngectomy, total laryngectomy, neck dissection, glossectomy, maxillectomy, mandibulectomy, composite resection, parotidectomy, submandibular gland excision, and branchial cleft excision. Her reconstructive expertise includes skin graft, adjacent tissue transfer, local flap, locoregional flap, and free flap surgery to include osseous and soft tissue components.
