The UK College of Medicine celebrated its largest group of matching students and its highest percentage of students matching into Kentucky residency programs.

Alliance research initiative - researchers collaborating

Nearly three years ago, the University of Kentucky College of Medicine launched the Alliance Research Initiative to promote collaboration and mentorship through interdisciplinary research teams. With members spanning across UK departments and colleges, these teams were established to address Kentucky’s most urgent health needs.

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine is excited to announce that Craig Rush, PhD, longtime professor of behavioral science, has taken the role of assistant dean for faculty affairs, a new position created to fulfill the expansion of duties within the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development (OFA).

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine’s Salvation Army Clinic is a student-run, free clinic that serves as a learning environment for medical, pharmacy, and social work students while providing acute onsite health care for uninsured patients at the Salvation Army of Central Kentucky.

Michelle Lofwall

Michelle Lofwall, MD, MS, professor of psychiatry and behavioral science, received the prestigious 2022 Dole/Nyswander (Marie) Award from the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence. Dr. Lofwall was one of nine expert physicians and scientists across the country recognized at the organization’s conference on Nov. 2.

Lisa Williams, MSSA, is serving in the college’s new leadership position, associate dean for wellness and well-being, to help us excel in this goal.

Dr. Rachele Yadon

Rachèle Yadon, MD, is an assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Along with serving on the faculty, she is a diversity and inclusion ambassador. In this role, she is charged with developing more equitable practices and leading these efforts in her department.

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine has received the 2021 Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education.

As part of the Office of Graduate Medical Education’s continued expansion of its graduate medical program opportunities, the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and UK HealthCare have established a new residency program to equip medical trainees with the necessary knowledge and experience to best treat Kentucky patients with both medical and psychiatric needs.
