Dr. Gopalkumar Rakesh is an assistant professor in the department of psychiatry. He completed his clinical psychiatry residency training at Duke University Medical Center, and a research fellowship with Dr. Rajendra A. Morey at the MIRECC in Durham, NC. He spearheads a research endeavor to examine the efficacy of TMS paradigms with functional MRI (fMRI) and cue-based attentional bias correlates in tobacco use disorder. He is a recipient of the Junior Research Scholars' award from the department of psychiatry. He has also received a pilot award from SUPRA aliance at the University of Kentucky. His research aims to optimally combine brain stimulation with pharmacotherapy in tobacco use disorder, in addition to establishing personalized response prediction systems.
