Collaborative Relationships Lead to Success

SCoBIRC is built on a foundation designed for multi-disciplinary collaborations. We believe our successes are attributed to the cohesive relationships that we have cultivated within our center and across the field of neurotrauma. By using this approach, we have continually promoted and sustained a safe environment that invites and advocates for all races, ethnicities, and underrepresented minority groups.

Support and Inspire Inclusion From All Members

Now, it is more important than ever for us to reach beyond our scientific community and address the racism and social injustices being imparted on the Black community in the United States. Historically, institutional racism has marginalized persons of color, and in particular, the Black community from opportunities in science. At SCoBIRC, we strive to support and inspire inclusion from all members of underrepresented groups and disbar any form of racially charged discrimination. 

Diversifying the Future of Science

Moving forward, we vow to denounce racial discrimination and implicit prejudices provoked from a lifetime of oppression. We will outwardly support our colleagues and scientists, expressly from the Black community and under-represented minorities. We will hold one another accountable to ensure an inviting and inclusive environment where our colleagues can thrive free of racial discrimination. We will stand together in compassion and unity to promote our goal of diversifying the future of our science. We will continue to learn and grow, together.
