The University of Kentucky’s public policy internship program, WilDCats at the Capitol, has selected Cohort 6 SPARKler Amy Moctezuma Perez as one of seven undergraduate students to intern in Washington, DC.

Amy is a first-generation student and aspires to a career in government dedicated to policy research focused on marginalized communities. She currently volunteers at Centro de San Juan Diego in Lexington, where she helps immigrant communities, and works as a First-Gen peer mentor at the University of Kentucky.

The internship spans from January to May 2026 and provides students with a dynamic opportunity to gain real-world experience and apply classroom learning in a fast-paced, professional environment. Students spend 40 hours per week interning in selected office settings, learning firsthand about career opportunities in politics, communications, issue advocacy, research, and more.
