Congratulations to Madeline Dunfee, a CHET graduate research assistant, who was awarded a 2021 James S. Brown Graduate Student Award for Research. Maddie is is an MD/PhD student, and is in the fifth year of her program to earn both an MD from the College of Medicine and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the College of Public Health. She received the award for her research project, "The Influence of Social Networks on Appalachian Adults’ Type Two Diabetes Self-Management." In her position with CHET, Maddie supports CHET's training mission through her work with the SPARK program and other academic training and professional development activities.
