Our vision, everyone learns, works, and lives well.

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine Office for Organizational Well-Being is a national leader in fostering a caring culture of well-being, and as a result, everyone in the College of Medicine community learns, works, and lives well.

We continue to listen and to seek input on solutions from those who learn and work in the College of Medicine. We’re excited to be your partners. What matters to you, matters to us.

The Office  for Organizational Well-Being promotes and advocates for a continuous culture of well-being by influencing systemic progress and enhancing personal wellness.

The mission of the Office for Organizational Well-Being (OWB) is to promote and advocate for a continuous culture of well-being by influencing systemic progress and enhancing personal wellness. We believe that everyone is deserving of being happy and healthy and working and learning in an environment that holistically supports their well-being. Our team continually meets with learners, faculty, and staff to learn about the drivers of burnout and recommendations to improve professional fulfillment and increased engagement.

How does the Office for Organizational Well-Being define individual wellness?

When our office looks at individual wellness we are looking at the six dimensions of wellness. These six dimensions are physical health, financial health, spiritual health, mental/emotional health, social health, and career development. We identify the development of programs and systems in these avenues in order to support individual wellness.

The University and the College of Medicine provides the resources that fall into these six dimensions. It is the responsibility of the individual to take advantage of and leverage the resources to create behavior change and improve their overall wellness.

How does the Office for Organizational Well-Being define organizational well-being?

In our office, we describe well-being as organizational well-being. Well-being is taking a holistic glance at the culture of the organization. We identify four quadrants within well-being 1). agile and empathetic leadership 2). community of support and belonging 3). efficient systems and structures and 4). individual wellness programming.

Our office uses these four areas to identify where we are doing well and the other areas in the College of Medicine where we need to increase our overall well-being for those who work and learn here.
