Biography and Education

Education

I am interested in preventing and mitigating the effects of chronic diseases through intergenerational lifestyle interventions. Fascinated by patterns relating the environment and community members’ health, I majored in biological sciences at Cornell University and focused most of coursework on ecology and nutrition. After college, I developed skills related to community engaged research and intervention design as a middle school science teacher in Dayton, Ohio. In 2016, I began an MPH at the University of Cincinnati. During this program, I discovered the field of epidemiology, gained experience in translational science, and identified completing an MD/PhD program as the ideal next phase of my training. Since matriculating to the University of Kentucky in 2017, I have enjoyed developing a broad, nuanced understanding of human health and disease and synthesizing this knowledge with skills in qualitative data analysis, community-engaged research and statistical analysis.
