The CURE-KY Monthly Virtual Seminar Series highlights research cores, programs, and institutional resources that support infectious disease research across the University of Kentucky. Sessions are held via Zoom on the third Wednesday of each month from 12:00–1:00 p.m. Recordings will be added to this page and the CURE-KY YouTube channel when available.

August 19, 2026 | Proposal Development Office Overview

Learn about PDO resources, programming, and proposal-development support available to infectious disease researchers across UK. This session will also introduce support for funding searches, proposal review, team-building, and project management for competitive grant applications.

September 16, 2026 | Flow Cytometry and Immune Monitoring Core

Learn about flow cytometry cell analysis, high-speed cell sorting, immune functional assays, panel design, training, and data analysis support. The session will help investigators understand how these services can support immune-response studies, translational research, and downstream cell-based experiments.

October 21, 2026 | Biospecimen Procurement & Translational Pathology

Learn about biospecimen procurement, specimen processing and annotation, archival and prospective specimen resources, and translational pathology support. This session will also cover how investigators can request specimen queries, targeted biospecimen acquisition, and related support for research protocols.

November 18, 2026 | Light Microscopy Core

Learn about optical imaging resources, image analysis support, and advanced imaging instrumentation, including confocal, multiphoton, and super-resolution microscopy. This session will help researchers identify imaging approaches and technical support available for generating high-quality visual data.

December 16, 2026 | CCTS Biospecimen Core

Learn about access to biological specimens, responsive biobanking services, biospecimen-related training, and the UK Research Registry and Specimen Bank. This session will help investigators understand how biospecimen resources can support clinical, translational, and infectious disease research projects.

January 20, 2027 | Electron Microscopy and Materials Characterization Core

Learn about access, training, and assistance for electron microscopy, advanced imaging, specimen preparation, and materials characterization instruments. This session will highlight how high-resolution imaging and characterization tools can support research involving cells, tissues, pathogens, biomaterials, and complex sample structures.

February 17, 2027 | Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Core

Learn about protein identification, quantification, post-translational modification analysis, small molecule analysis, metabolite profiling, and related data support. This session will help researchers understand how mass spectrometry-based workflows can support discovery, validation, and mechanistic studies.

March 17, 2027 | Genomics Core

Learn about genomic research services, including next-generation sequencing, Sanger sequencing, fragment analysis, chromosomal microarray, NanoString, and DNA/RNA quality control. This session will help investigators match project needs with available sequencing, expression-profiling, and sample-quality services.

April 21, 2027 | Center for Pharmaceutical Research and Innovation

Learn about translational research support, drug discovery and development resources, chemical probes, drug leads, and preclinical project development. This session will highlight how CPRI supports UK-based researchers working to advance promising discoveries toward in vivo proof-of-principle and broader translational applications.

May 19, 2027 | Division of Laboratory Animal Resources

Learn about veterinary services, animal health monitoring, technical services, surgical resources, pathology, breeding colony management, and species-specific training. This session will help investigators understand available support for humane, compliant, and scientifically rigorous animal-based research.
