Derek Allison, MD, has been selected as director of the Molecular Tumor Board effective July 15, 2024.  This is a statewide tumor board with around 30 case submissions per week, of which only 8 are chosen to be reviewed every other week.  This position will allow Dr. Allison to conduct more significant QA reviews for in-house cases.  Excellent work Dr. Allison!

 

Dr. Derek Allison and Justin Rueckert, DO, are senior author and co-author, respectively, on an abstract that has been accepted for the CAP 24 meeting in Las Vegas, NV October 19-22, 2024.  Their project is titled “Investigation of NRG1 Fusions and Concurrent Molecular Alterations in Solid Tumors” and is a collaboration with Heather Short (first author), a third-year medical student with a strong interest in pathology, alongside Eric Rellinger, MD, in pediatric surgery.  Congratulations to all!

Jing Di, MD, (first author), Ali Alhaidary, MD, Sainan Wei, MD, PhD, and Therese Bocklage, MD, (senior author) collaborated on an article recently accepted by the journal Biomedicines titled “NSD3::NUTM1 Fusion Sarcoma Mimicking Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor with Prolonged Survival”.  This was a collaboration with Chi Wang, MD, (Markey) and Joseph Valentino, MD, (Otolaryngology).  Excellent work everyone!

 

Drs. Jing Di (first author), Sainan Wei, and Melissa Kesler, MD, (senior author) collaborated on an article recently published in the Cureus Journal of Medical Science.  The article titled “Transition From Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV)-Positive Rectal Hodgkin Lymphoma to Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma in the Lung” is a collaboration with Drs. Reinhold Munker (UK Hematology/Oncology) and Amie Jackson (Baptist Hematology/Oncology).  The article is attached, congratulations to all!  

 

Faisal Hassan, MD, is presenting an abstract at the SABI (Society for Advanced Body Imaging) Annual Meeting Oct. 6-10, 2024 in Washington, DC.  The title is “Peritoneal Carcinomatosis Secondary to Abdominopelvic Malignancies” and is a collaboration with the Department of Radiology.  Great work, Dr. Hassan!

 

Kalee Rusnak, MD, is presenting an abstract at the ASCP 2024 Annual Meeting in Chicago, Ill. Sept, 3-6, 2024.  The poster titled “Development of Systemic Mastocytosis After Bone Marrow Transplantation for an Acute Myeloid Leukemia:  Donor Driven Disease or Systemic Mastocytosis with and Associate Myeloid Neoplasm” is a collaboration with Sahar Nozad, MD.
