Department Engagement
Each month, our department hosts events designed to foster a sense of community. These gatherings encourage fun, creativity, and connection—providing opportunities for us to bond outside of our daily work.
Be sure to check back every month to see what exciting events we’ve had, and get involved in the next one!
Match Day and March Madness Tournament!
March 21 is Match Day! We are excited to welcome our incoming residents in July 2025. We love gathering together to share in this experience and find out this wonderful news as a department. While gathered, our department finalized our March Madness Tournament with our Elite 8.
Thank A Resident Day
Our department celebrated Thank a Resident and Fellow Day on February 28. Our residents received small tokens throughout the week to show our appreciation. On Friday, program leadership and residents were invited to relax at a luncheon to celebrate all they do for our resident and fellowship programs. We are so appreciative of the huge impact they all make on our UK HealthCare community!
National Fun at Work Day
Our department celebrated National Fun at Work Day on January 31. Faculty, residents, and staff were invited to socialize, compete in small games, and enjoy some popcorn and cotton candy. Nothing gets folks out of their seats more than the smell of fresh popped popcorn floating down the hall! Pictures coming soon!
Pathology Holiday Party
In December, the department hosted a Holiday Party luncheon. The luncheon was an opportunity to share a delicious meal with faculty, residents, and staff and decompress during a busy holiday season. Additionally, many participated in a cookie exchange to sweeten the day.
Taste of Pathology
In November, the department hosted a Taste of Pathology in celebration of community. To make it extra special, faculty, residents, and staff brought a dish that reminds them of their community—something that represents where their from, a family favorite, or just a recipe that holds a special place in their heart. It's a wonderful opportunity to share not just food, but the stories and traditions that make our department unique.
Halloween Grand Rounds
During a PGY-4 Senior Job Talk Grand Rounds on Oct. 31, faculty, residents, and staff were encouraged to wear a costume and at the end of the presentation, all voted for best/most creative costume. Happy Halloween!
Pumpkin Carving in the Courtyard
In October, faculty, residents, and staff enjoyed our annual Pumpkin Carving in the Courtyard, followed by refreshments and delicious fall treats.
Appreciation Luncheon
In recognition of our faculty, residents, and staff's hard work, dedication, and outstanding contributions to the department of pathology and laboratory medicine, the department hosted an Appreciation Luncheon in August.
