Why did you choose the University of Kentucky?
UK delivers the medical exposure and pathology of a large urban city with the size and feel of a mid sized southern town. It is a fantastic place to start and raise a family which was very important to me.
What do you like about your program?
When I was looking at residencies, I wanted to train at a program that would give me the skills and foundation to build a successful career as an Orthopedic Surgeon. After completing an away rotation at here, it was clear that UK would be able to deliver in this regard. The residents were hard working and had each other's backs, the junior levels were confident taking call at UK's busy level 1 trauma center, and the upper levels were poised and competent in the OR. If you are looking for a program where you will work hard, learn how to operate, be comfortable with managing any orthopedic injury that comes through the ED, and feel prepared for a top level fellowship, UK Orthopedics should be on your short list.
What are your hobbies?
When I am not at the hospital, I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter. We enjoy trying new restaurants, hanging out with friends, and spending time with our extended family who are close by. I also enjoy reading fantasy series, the occasional round of golf, chess, and Call of Duty.
