Jeffrey B. Selby, MD

Welcome to the UK College of Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Department.

As a member of our department since 1997, I have had the privilege of watching us grow from a Division of Surgery to our own fledgling department over 15 years ago, to the very complete, well rounded department that we have now. What started as ten faculty and three residents per year has grown to over 35 full-and-part-time faculty along with five residents per year and six fellows per year.  With the recruitment of top notch faculty, we are now providing specialty care in the areas of foot and ankle, general orthopaedics, joint reconstruction, orthopaedic oncology, pediatric orthopaedics, spine, sports medicine, trauma, hand and upper extremity.

This recruitment not only provides the citizens of Kentucky and area states with exceptional care but also enables us to provide the education necessary for graduating outstanding orthopaedic residents along with sports medicine, trauma and joint reconstruction fellows.

This website features a wealth of information on our program, its educational initiatives, and our faculty practice. If you are a potential resident or fellow, I encourage you to explore it in more detail and to contact us.

Finally, Lexington, Ky., is a wonderful community that offers something for everyone. It is one of the safest and most livable cities in the country and many residents own homes which are close to campus. Child care is readily available and the public schools are excellent. UK itself has over 30,000 students with a vibrant campus and superb team sports!
