Program Director
Ryan Muchow, MD
Associate Professor and Residency Program Director
The UK College of Medicine orthopaedic surgery residency desires to prepare surgeons in the character, intellect, and surgical discipline required to become outstanding clinicians and leaders in patient care. The program’s strength is the dynamic group of individuals that form the resident team. Their comprehensive education occurs through surgical training in all the orthopaedic surgical sub-specialties, didactic and simulation, and advancing the field through research.
The residents experience their surgical training through a local, yet diverse, set of hospitals on UK’s campus and within the city of Lexington: University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospital, Kentucky Children’s Hospital, Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Lexington Shriners Hospital for Children, and two local private hospitals.
Residents at the University of Kentucky have access to ample research opportunities through the department of orthopaedic surgery, Shriners Hospital for Children, and numerous basic science collaborations. Protected research time and support facilitate our commitment to advancing the field of Orthopaedic Surgery to the benefit of the patients we serve.
Lexington is a beautiful city located in the heart of the bluegrass – horse farms, striking countryside, and pristine natural resources form the core of the distinctive attraction to the area.
Thank you for your interest in the orthopaedic program that has the pleasure of working with the greatest residents in the country.
