Other Educational Activities
Resident didactics are held every Thursday from 7am–11am after which our residents enjoy a department sponsored lunch. Once a month we have 2 hours of simulation during didactics which includes task trainers and simulation cases. We also participate in an outdoor Wilderness Medicine Day, UltraSim Procedure Day, as well as Battle of the Bluegrass – a friendly EM based competition day between us and the University of Louisville’s EM residency program. Besides learning during didactics, every residency class attends a national conference each year.
Our residents also have several opportunities to teach. We have MS3 and MS4 learners on a majority of shifts, along with opportunities to participate in simulation with the M3 clerkship, trauma nursing simulations with our ER nurses and the trauma surgery department, as well as outreach opportunities with different community groups.
