Program Overview
Mission
At the University of Kentucky, it is our goal to continually improve the health of our community and its diverse populations by fostering an inclusive and engaging workforce. We aim to deliver the highest quality of care to people representing all dimensions of diversity, and are committed to developing our workforce to reflect the considerable diversity of our patient population. We know this to be of particular importance in the emergency department, as we are often the frontline of the health care system for many of the medically underserved in our community. Our emergency medicine residency program plays a vital role in this mission. In an effort to recruit residents from diverse backgrounds, the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine is pleased to offer an acting internship (AI) scholarship to under-represented minority medical students. The scholarship provides $2,000 to cover the costs of travel, lodging, and other expenses associated with the four-week rotation. Two scholarship awards are available.
