Two University of Kentucky College of Medicine students have been chosen for the fourth cohort of the White Coats for Black Lives fellowships.

Chisom Iloegbunam and Louise Scharff were recently awarded the fellowships created by the department of Behavioral Science.

CHET primary faculty member Justin X. Moore, PhD, is co-leading a summer programming workshop for high school students called Biostat Prodigy. This 5-day immersive workshop on statistical programming is co-led by Kristen McQuerry, PhD, associate professor in the College of Public Health Department of Biostatistics in partnership with Fayette County Public Schools.

Yolanda Jackson worked for years as a clinical dietitian and University of Kentucky lecturer in dietetics and human nutrition before she decided to pursue a PhD in health communication —a field she describes as a “missing link” for making a positive impact in public health.

The University of Kentucky’s Research Scholars Program (RSP) has welcomed its fourth cohort made up of six faculty whose expertise spans a broad range of research foci. The program is aimed at advancing research by promoting the success of a diverse group of faculty.

Cheavar Blair, PhD, completed his doctorate in physiology at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 2017. In 2022, he was recruited back to the department as an assistant professor in the research title series.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 6, 2024) – The University of Kentucky SPARK (Students Participating as Ambassadors for Research in Kentucky) Program has named its 2024 cohort.

The University of Kentucky recently received a $19 million grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) to fund a new center on tobacco research.

CHET primary faculty member, Dr. Delvon Mattingly, will serve as a panelist for the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco’s Health Equity Trainee Showcase. Dr. Mattingly, along with the other panel members, will provide an overview of his research and address questions from the audience.

On Friday, October 13th, CHET celebrated five years of fostering innovative, transdisciplinary, and impactful health equity research in the Commonwealth. There was a terrific turnout, with nearly 100 attendees enjoying a variety of health equity speakers, refreshments, and musical performances.
