On Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 2pm-5pm, partners from the Office for Student Success, Office for Institutional Diversity, International Student and Scholar Services and Student Government Association are hosting a two-part event centered on solidarity with the Asian American and Pacific Islander community and across communities.

The first part of the event will offer healing spaces and learning spaces for students, staff and faculty. This space will provide participants with the opportunity to be in community with others who are navigating the impact of violence and hate directed toward marginalized and minoritized communities. The learning spaces are important for anyone who wants to increase their capacity to be in solidarity with communities other than their own and for anyone who wants to engage in actions rooted in ally and accomplice behaviors. Virtual spaces will be facilitated by Office for Student Success staff.

The second part is a Solidarity Walk from 4pm-4:30pm from Willy T to Barker Plaza at the Student Center. Dr. Huajng Maske and student leaders will offer closing remarks. The walk will occur rain or shine. In the event of inclement or dangerous weather, the walk would be rescheduled.

The goal of this event is to inspire solidarity across communities. What impacts one group in our community, impacts us all. Solidarity is a necessity for all of us no matter our identity.
