Dr. Sorge, Dr. Yadon Selected as 2022 Fellows for BHEC Academic Leadership Academy

The UK College of Medicine Office of Faculty Affairs and Development is pleased to announce that Caryn Sorge, MD, and Rachèle Yadon, MD, have been selected as fellows for the 2022 Bluegrass Higher Education Consortium Academic Leadership Academy (BHEC-ALA).

Dr. Sorge is an assistant professor in the department of pediatrics, division of hematology/oncology. She received her medical degree from Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va, followed by a residency at the University of South Carolina/Palmetto HeaLTH Richland and a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at University of Alabama, Birmingham. Dr. Sorge has been involved in the development and implementation of the pediatric neuroendocrine tumor clinic, which provides subspecialized care for a population of patients with very rare tumors. She also developed and leads the adolescent and young adult oncology program at UK.

Dr. Yadon is an assistant professor in the department of psychiatry. She received her medical degree from Duke University in Durham, N.C., and completed her psychiatry residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. Dr. Yadon is also the associate training program director for adult psychiatry and serves as a diversity, equity, and inclusion ambassador to the College of Medicine. She also serves on her department’s recruitment and retention committee, faculty development committee, and leads the new faculty committee. She is passionate about resident education and her clinical interests are in women’s reproductive psychiatry, anxiety disorders, and psychotherapy.

The BHEC-ALA is a consortium of the 12 colleges and universities in central Kentucky. Its purpose is to encourage faculty to consider career paths in leadership and to provide mentorship in developing the skills necessary for effective institutional leadership.
