Edric Winford
2022 Torch Bearer
Edric Winford is a student in the College of Medicine’s department of neuroscience who was named a 2021 SEC Emerging Scholar. Winford earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and currently studies in the lab of Dr. Florin Despa, who focuses on amylin dysregulation and how it contributes to neurodegenerative disorders. He has a passion for mentoring and teaching, and plans to become a tenure-track faculty member in the field of neutoimmunology/neuroinflammation to contribute scientifically and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
