Dr. Webb joined the College of Medicine faculty as an assistant professor in the department of internal medicine in 1999, working her way up to professor with tenure in 2009. She joined the department of pharmacology and nutritional sciences in 2014 and, in the same year, was appointed its Director of the Division of Nutritional Sciences.  As Division Director, she oversaw the graduate program in Nutritional Sciences and its extensive Graduate Faculty from multiple UK colleges.  She also oversaw the development of new and innovative course offerings leading to expanded opportunities for postgraduate training in the Nutritional Sciences.

Dr. Webb’s successful track record in academia and scientific discovery includes the leading of a program focused on inflammation and cardiovascular disease funded by the American Heart Association (AHA) and National Institutes of Health for more than 20 years. She served as a program director for a longstanding NIDDK training grant, “Multidisciplinary Approaches for Metabolic Disease,” providing critical funds for graduate students across multiple colleges at UK.  She has also served as director of training for the new AHA-funded UK-Baylor Aortopathy Research Center.

In her time at UK, Dr. Webb has provided notable service on several important search committees and mentored more than 50 early-career investigators, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduate students.  The graduate students of the department have recognized her commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring by presenting her twice with the award for the Faculty of the Year.  Dr. Webb has also been recognized by the AHA for her significant contributions to research and service, respectively, with the Distinguished Achievement Award and the Mentor of Women Award from the Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology (ATVB) Council.

The department and the COM are deeply appreciative of the outstanding contributions and leadership provided by Dr. Nancy Webb.
