The National Conferences on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) 2014 will be held on The University of Kentucky campus on April 3-5, 2014 – just a week away! Over 4000 students and mentors will be in participation. NCUR is an annual celebration of undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity in all fields of study for students across the country and beyond.  For full details, see http://www.cur.org/ncur_2014/

The conference will consist of four plenary talks by such Kentucky greats as T. Pearse Lyson, PhD, (Alltech); Kris Kimel (KY Science and Technology Corporation, and KY Space), Nikky Finney (University of South Carolina), and Ernest Bailey, PhD. (UK Gluck Equine Research Center).  It will also showcase oral, poster, performing arts and visual arts presentations by students.  There will be a Graduate and Professional Fair, a Career Gallery, Student Interest Sessions, Departmental Open Houses across the campus, Faculty-Administrator Network sessions (workshops for faculty and administrators), The Big Event – a concert by “Sundy Best” at the Grand Reserve downtown Lexington (ticketed event; $10 students), a KY Proud dinner at the Lexington Center, Bluegrass Ballroom (ticketed event; $35 faculty; $20 students), and musical performances throughout the conference by UK students, e.g. UK’s RocKats.  There are also four excursions – Keeneland, KY Horse Park, Red River Gorge, and a tour called “Horses, Hooch and History” that are ticketed and can be purchased online at the “Extras Store” (see website).  UK faculty and students can participate in non-ticketed events without registration (no meals).

WE ARE IN NEED OF hundreds more student volunteers, who can sign up online (http://uknow.uky.edu/sites/default/files/volunteering_at_ncur.pdf), as well as many more faculty moderator for oral presentation sessions (email Claire Renzetti at Claire.renzetti@uky.edu).  Please help us make this conference a huge success!
