The College of Medicine has sponsored a summer research program annually for medical students. Through this activity, students obtain research experience that is not available in the required curriculum.  The program has proven to be an excellent opportunity to involve selected students with faculty conducting state of the art research at the Medical Center.

Please note that students who wish to participate in the voluntary summer research program are doing so without compensation unless:
1) you have a grant that can pay the student or
2) your department has funds that can pay the student. Here are the timeframes in which students would be available to voluntarily participate in summer research:

Incoming Students - Class of 2019
(up to 10 weeks)
mid-May through July 31

Current First Year
Students – Class of 2018

(up to 9 weeks)
June 1 through July 31

Current Second Year
Students – Class of 2017

(up to 7 weeks)
May 11  through June 26

Current Third Year

Not available for summer research

Based on information gathered from faculty, we will supply the medical students with a list of research opportunities and potential mentors.  At that time, interested students are responsible for contacting faculty members directly to discuss potential collaboration.

If you are interested in participating in the College of Medicine’s voluntary summer research program, please return the required information
