The University of Kentucky College of Medicine will welcome internationally recognized scientist Lotte Bjerre Knudsen, PhD, as the featured speaker for the William R. Martin Lecture Series on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025.
Dr. Knudsen serves as chief scientific advisor at Novo Nordisk and was recently honored with the 2024 Lasker-DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award, which is given for outstanding breakthroughs that contribute to improved clinical treatment of patients and is often considered the "shortlist" for a Nobel Prize.
Dr. Knudsen will be speaking about her work on the development of GLP-1-based drugs, which have revolutionized the treatment of diabetes and obesity.
Her lecture, titled “GLP-1: Lessons Learned and New Horizons for Therapeutic Innovation,” will be held from noon - 1 p.m. ET in the Lee T. Todd, Jr. building, room 152, followed by a Q&A session from 2 - 3 p.m. in Todd 234. For an interactive campus map, click here.
