The UK Graduate School is hosting the 3MT Competition this semester! You have one slide and 3 minutes to breakdown your thesis/dissertation. With workshops designed to help your presentation skills, we’re ready to help you out.
Workshops
You do not have to attend a workshop to compete, but we do recommend you try to attend when you can. The days, times, and locations of the workshops are below so that you can go ahead and plan on attending.
- Getting to Your Point” – How to tell your story in 3 minutes or less“
- Thursday, Sept 15th 5:00-6:30, White Hall Classroom Building, Room 204
- “Visually Representing Your Idea” – How to show your story in one slide
- Wednesday, Sept 21st 5:00-6:30, White Hall Classroom Building, Room 204 (tentative)
- “How to Talk Good” – The Art of Delivery
- Tuesday, Sept 27th 5:00-6:30, White Hall Classroom Building, Room 204

The link to register for the contest will open in September, and with it, you will submit an application, a 1-minute video, and a PDF of your slide. The best 15 candidates will compete in the first set of prelims held the first full week of October. After prelims, finalists will go on to the Finals competition in November.
Four of the competitors will earn cash prizes, and the winner will have a chance to compete in the Regional Finals held at the Conference for Southern Graduate Schools March 2-5th in Annapolis, MD.
1st Place: $1000
2nd Place: $500
3rd Place: $250
People’s Choice: $125
