Student Scholarships
According to a recent AAMC financial report, nearly 80% of M.D. graduates have student debt, with an average of more than $210,000. The College of Medicine recognizes the immediate need for current-use, dual, and endowed scholarships to help reduce this financial burden for medical students. There are many ways you can help our students so they can pursue their passion of saving lives and improving the health of their communities.
Dean’s CORE Scholarship Fund
The Dean's CORE Scholarship is awarded to UK College of Medicine students based on need, merit, and enhancement. This fund was established to provide scholarship support to medical students who demonstrate compassion, operational readiness, resilience, and excellence in their pursuit of medical education. Michael D Rankin MD Health Education Building
The University of Kentucky is committed to training health professionals who will advance the well-being of the Commonwealth and beyond. The Michael D. Rankin MD Health Education Building is crucial for Kentucky as it addresses a significant shortage of health care professionals and combats health care deserts in 90% of our counties. This facility will enhance training capacity by 1,200 students, empowering them to tackle pressing health challenges and improve the overall well-being and economic stability of communities across the Commonwealth. Research and Discovery
The College of Medicine has built a strong reputation for research growth, recently demonstrated through its two-fold increase of NIH and overall funding in just three years. The Alliance Research Initiative, has continued expanding the college’s research footprint by capitalizing on collaboration and the transdisciplinary strategy to find answers to the health challenges that disproportionately affect Kentuckians.
