New NIH Biosketch Format – Required on May 25 
The new five-page biosketch format is required for all NIH proposals due on or after May 25, 2015. To help you get ready for this change, the Proposal Development Office invites UK staff and faculty to a workshop --

NIH has recently updated their website that provides context for the NIH Peer Review Process.  With the contributions of NIH staff, the site offers new and improved content.  The goal of the site is to connect the What, When, Why, and How of the NIH Peer Review.   This site’s primary audience is the NIH reviewer.  The site provides information to better understand the “do’s and don’ts” of each step of the review process including links to the eRA video tutorial series

Dr. Mark Evers, director of the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center and professor and vice chair for research in the Department of Surgery, has been elected treasurer for the American Surgical Association. Evers will serve as treasurer through 2020. The American Surgical Association is the nation's oldest and most prestigious surgical organization. They strive to benefit the patient and the profession of surgery by advocating and promoting excellence, innovation and integrity.

Purpose

The purpose of this notice is to remind applicants, both investigators and grants office officials, that to be fair to all concerned the NIH needs to consistently apply standards for application compliance.

The Vilcek Foundation is seeking applicants for the 2016 Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise in Biomedical Science.  They are accepting applications from young, foreign-born researchers age 38 and under from now through June 15, 2015.  Three winners will each receive a $50,000 unrestricted cash prize and will be honored at an awards ceremony in New York City in April 2016.
