Annual Financial Disclosure Mandatory for All COM Faculty 

All faculty in the College of Medicine (physicians and basic scientists) are required to participate in financial conflict of interest disclosures.  Currently, faculty may be asked to fill out 2 separate and distinct disclosures: 

The second EAB in-person meeting of the University of Kentucky’s Center for Health Services Research (CHSR) was held at Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, KY from Sunday June 19th to Monday June 20th, 2016. The initial dinner took place on Sunday, June 19th at Distilled at Gratz Park.

In between medical training sessions at Tribhuvan University in Nepal, the fourth-year University of Kentucky medical student trekked across the Kathmandu Valley, stopping at small villages along the way, with a group of colleagues from around the world. On the first day of their adventure, a constant pouring of rain drenched their clothes, which they dried over a campfire that night.
UK HealthCare's Gill Heart Institute has received the "Get With The Guidelines-Resuscitation Gold Quality Achievement Award" for maintaining specific quality measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer cardiac arrests in the hospital. This year marks the second year that Gill has received Gold designation. "We are committed to providing the best possible outcomes for our patients, and it's gratifying to have the quality of our care acknowledged by the American Heart Association," said Dr.

 The National Institutes of Health have introduced a series of changes to their biosketch format.  These changes will allow researchers more freedom to describe the importance of their research.  The new biosketches must be submitted with all grant applications on or after May 25, 2015. 

There are three major changes to the biosketch.  These changes are:

The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees today approved University Research Professorships for 2015-16 for four faculty members. The professorships carry a $40,000 award to support research.
Two seems to be a lucky number for graduating senior Sibi Rajendran, of Frankfort, Kentucky. Two years ago, Rajendran, the son of Narayanan and Preetha Rajendran, graduated from two high schools simultaneously in two different Kentucky communities.

Two researchers from the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging have received a multi-million dollar grant renewal to unlock the mysteries of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and brain aging with the help of people with Down syndrome (DS).

One of the many services offered through the College of Medicine website is a profile page.  All faculty, staff and trainees of the College of Medicine have a page specific to them.  These pages offer a standardized format to display a professional photo, research interests, selected publications and pub med listings along with information such as lab personnel.  When we review website traffic, we see that these profile pages are some of the most popular portions of our website, thus we want to encourage everyone to keep their page up to date.

"Drug Interactions in Breast Cancer" project has the potential to help scientists understand why the drug tamoxifen may not work as a therapy for breast cancer in some patients. Hollie Swanson, professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Nutritional Sciences, and Ok-Kyong Park-Sarge, associate professor in the Department of Physiology, worked with 10 STEMCats students on the project.
