Multiple UK College of Medicine students received awards at the American College of Physicians (ACP) Kentucky Chapter’s Annual Scientific Meeting. Students were awarded during the research poster competition in the following categories.

For many in Lexington, the UK Salvation Army Clinic is their only access to healthcare, but for UK students, UKSAC offers an opportunity to learn about the medical field in a hands-on environment. 

According to UKSAC’s website, the clinic is “a free clinic run by medical students from the University of Kentucky.”

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine hosted its 10th annual AOA Groves Memorial M.D./Ph.D. Program Student Research Symposium this February 4th, 2016. The day included student presentations and our keynote speaker, Dr. Ramnik Xavier, MD, PhD: chief of the gastrointestinal unit and director of the Center for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston as well as the Kurt Isselbacher Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Team Surgery Shenanigans is several hundred dollars short of its $850 goal to support Special Olympics Kentucky, but team leader Pete Rogers is optimistic that the goal will be met before he takes a dive - or cannonball, he hasn't decided - on Saturday, February 20.

Rogers, division administrator for Urology, Pediatric Surgery, and ENT, established Team Surgery Shenanigans as a way for the UK surgery departments to band together and participate in charitable outreach programs. The Polar Plunge is the inaugural event for the team.

Thanks to support from the Kentucky Spinal Cord and Head Injury Research Trust, we are pleased to offer $150 Awards to students, postdocs, and other researchers at the University of Kentucky who will be submitting an abstract to the National Neurotrauma Society meeting. This award is to cover a portion of the registration cost. Faculty are not eligible.
