Stephen E. Strup, MD, FACS, the James F. Glenn Professor and chair of the department of urology at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine was recently inducted president of the Society of Pelvic Surgeons (SPS). The 71st meeting of the SPS was recently held in Milano, Italy. The SPS is an international society comprised of three major pelvic surgery disciplines including urologic surgery, gynecologic surgery, and colorectal surgery.
Members are from the United States of America and internationally from Europe, Australia, Asia and Canada. Dr. Strup previously served as secretary/treasurer of the society (2017-2022) and will serve as president until November 2024. Dr. Strup is pictured accepting the SPS Presidential gavel from previous President, Tracy Hull, MD, FACS, FASCRS, a colorectal surgeon at Cleveland Clinic. “It is truly an honor and privilege to lead this extraordinary Society of internationally recognized surgeons from across the world; many of whom I’ve collaborated and partnered and also have become dear friends.”
