LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept.. 8, 2017) -- Abstracts are being accepted for the 2017 Annual Kentucky Neuroscience Clinical-Translation Research Symposium, which will take place Sept. 29, 2017 at UK's Albert B. Chandler Hospital Pavilion A Auditorium. The symposium provides basic, translational and clinical neuroscience investigators an opportunity to discuss their work, share progress and develop collaborations. The symposium will include a scientific poster session and four theme-based platform sessions, each with short (10-minute) talks selected from abstract submissions.

We would like to inform you about a new initiative called OnPAR (Online Partnership to Accelerate Research).  This was launched by Leidos Life Sciences

On September 1, the UK College of Medicine Dean's Office announced eight new administrative appointments, which included Dr. Jing Li, an associate professor in the UK Department of Surgery.

The appointment of Jing Li, MD, MS, to Associate Director of the Center for Health Services Research and as the new Director of the Office of Value and Innovation in Healthcare Delivery (OVIHD) actually became effective on July 1, 2017.

Last month, the UK HealthCare ALS Clinic earned a coveted recognition from the ALS Association: ALS Association Certified Treatment Center of Excellence. The certification honors UK's commitment to ALS research and patient care, which centers around a multidisciplinary approach where ALS patients see a variety of specialists in a single visit.

On August 31, 2017, NIH released its updated policy promoting growth, stability and diversity in the biomedical research workforce.  NIH acknowledges that early career scientists have found it increasingly difficult to obtain research funding for their first award.  To address the increased difficulty, NIH will require that institutes prioritize awards for scientists early in their careers.
