NIH Delays New Biosketch Format Until May 25
If you are planning an NIH proposal submission for May 25, 2015 (or later), any biosketches included MUST use the new 5-page format. Please note this represents a significant change and you are encouraged to allow sufficient lead time to prepare them. This new format asks the investigator to provide up to five of his/her most significant contributions to science, including historical background, findings, influence and/or application of the findings on the progress of science and/or health or technology, and his/her role in the work. OHRP Releases Draft Guidance on Disclosing Foreseeable Risks for Public Comment
The Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) recently released draft guidance on the topic, “Disclosing Reasonably Foreseeable Risks in Research Evaluating Standards of Care”, http://www.hhs.gov/ohrp/newsroom/rfc/comstdofcare.html. UK CERH Recognizes MLS Class of 2014
The University of Kentucky Center of Excellence in Rural Health Student Services office held a graduation luncheon in recognition of the Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Class of 2014. The students will graduate in December with a Bachelor of Health Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science.

Shuxia Wang receives RO1 funding
Shuxia Wang, MD, Ph.D., has received NIH RO1 funding for a project titled "Thrombospondin1 in obesity associated inflammation and insulin resistance." The project will be supported by $1,204,651 grant for the period of August 2014 to May 2018. In addition, Dr. Wang recently received a competitive score for an R03 award to study interventions that may reduce acute kidney injury in the elderly.
