Nov 8, 2018. Congratulations to Dr. Julie Shelton on her UK Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) Rising Star award for outstanding female students/post-graduate trainees. Each year, WIMS recognizes faculty and trainees who encourage and support women in their academic and professional endeavors in the UK College of Medicine. Dr. Li was invited to be a peer reviewer for the Dissemination and Implementation Research in Health (DIRH) Study Section in February 2019. The DIRH Study Section reviews applications that focus on the dissemination and implementation of knowledge from scientific discovery to transform healthcare delivery yielding improved health outcomes and management of acute and chronic illness. Research approaches in DIRH studies may include qualitative methods, quantitative and mixed-method approaches, and experimental and quasi-experimental designs. To learn more about Dr.
The 11th Annual Hardin Award was presented to Andrew Hernandez, an administrative staff member in the Department of Physiology, on December 14, 2018 during the Physiology Holiday Party at Kroger Field's Woodford Reserve Club. The Hardin Award is dedicated to the memory of Brian Hardin, a Physiology lab technician and graduate student, who passed away in 2007. On the trophy, it is inscribed “Brian Hardin was a graduate student and technician in the Department who made good physiology fun and challenged everyone he met to only bring their best game.

The Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU), the premier specialty society for female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, recently announced Deborah Erickson, MD, assistant dean for preclinical education, as the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award winner.  

 The SUFU Lifetime Achievement Award, established in 1986, is presented annually to an individual who has made continuing and progressive contributions that have had a significant and lasting effect on the field.

These awards are designed to recognize the dedication and extra time required mentoring undergraduate students in research and are targeted at assisting doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows, and junior faculty.
