The UK Department of Surgery celebrated Dr. Joseph Zwischenberger's 12-year term as Chair of the Department of Surgery with a special recognition reception on Thursday afternoon, July 25 in Pavilion A of the UK Chandler Medical Center.
Research Volunteers Drive Discoveries at Sanders-Brown Center on Aging
Myrte Nudd is effervescent and chatty as she talks about her schedule. She teaches seniors at the Lexington Senior Center how to use their new cell phones, tablets and laptops, helps out when her church needs food for post-Mass receptions, travels to her grandson's high school graduation and to far-flung places such as western Canada, Europe, New York and even Russia. And by the way, she needs to go now because she's promised to take her twin 16-year old granddaughters on their annual shopping trip.

Physicians and staff from UK HealthCare and the Lexington Surgery Center, along with Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton, celebrated the opening of a new joint facility at 2115 Harrodsburg Road. The new Lexington Surgery Center is adjacent to UK HealthCare Turfland.
4th Annual KNI Clinical-Translational Research Symposium
The 2019 Kentucky Neuroscience Institute Clinical-Translational Research Symposium is a daylong event that will provide the opportunity for basic, translational, and clinical neuroscience investigators including trainees, laboratory and program directors throughout the university to discuss their work, share progress, and develop collaborations. The 4th annual event is scheduled for October 4, 2019 in Karpf (PAV A) Auditorium, with the first poster session beginning at 8am.

University of Kentucky (UK) faculty received $417.1 million in competitive research awards last fiscal year, a record-breaking increase of $83 million over the previous year.
This astounding 25% increase in FY 2019 takes the university to an unprecedented 12% compound annual growth rate over the last three years for grants and contracts to UK.
