Announcing TISA
UK's College of Medicine has announced the Alliance Initiative, a transdisciplinary effort from 18 teams to advance important areas of research related to each team's expertise. The Center for Health Services Research, in collaboration with the Markey Cancer Center and Gill Heart & Vascular Institute, has been selected to form one of the Alliance Initiative teams.
Our team, titled the Transdisciplinary Implementation Science Alliance (or TISA), will work to advance implementation science research at UK. Implementation science is the study of how to incorporate evidence-based practices into the routine operations of professionals, such as clinicians and medical staff.
Our goal is to promote best practices in implementation science research, foster a transdisciplinary community of implementation science researchers from all disciplines, and support junior faculty who are pursuing implementation science research in their career, among other sustaining efforts.
In addition to these efforts, we will begin a new research that investigates cardiovascular disease in patients who have survived cancer. Cardiovascular disease has become a leading cause of morbidity and mortality for cancer survivors; by leveraging TISA’s combined expertise in implementation science, oncology, and cardiovascular disease, we will set out to improve preventative cardiovascular services.
Implementation science is a growing field inside the University of Kentucky, and we are excited to help it flourish. More details about our efforts, including virtual talks and workshops, will be shared in the coming weeks. Please follow us on Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn for future updates.
